I'm busy watching the final inning (I hope, and in a good way) of Game 4 of the National League Championship Series and my beloved Phillies are ahead, miraculously, of the Dodgers. I hope they still are at the end of this inning! Anyway, just a brief note so I don't forget to blog this later on:
Yesterday (Sunday 10.12.08) Hallie read her first word: Dog. I think she learned this from an episode of Sesame Street, but she clearly knows how to recognize it (we've tried this several times, with no pictorial or other kind of prompts) and she gets it every time. So our kid only can read one thing so far, but at 2 years adjusted, and a mere 28 months actual, our micropreemie is reading. Very very cool.
In other news, we're now at 127 days and counting and Sharon is at 23 weeks 2 days and counting. More importantly, at her OB visit today her cervix was closed and no concerns raised themselves otherwise, either. We are very hopeful that we'll break our record of 23 weeks 4 days on Wednesday and hopefully go a lot longer than that.
OK--back to the game!

YAY Hallie! I always love reading about Miss Hallie. I don't always comment, but trust me, I'm always rooting for her. (oh, and you and Sharon too ;-)
Aidan has been able to sight read a few words since around that age as well. I was kind of floored and didn't really understand how a kid that age can do that. So at 37 months actual, Aidan has about 12 or so sight words. Almost all of them are 3 letter words. (We have a Leapfrog Word Whammer...which if you like those kinds of toys is AMAZING for phonics and putting together short 3 letter words)
I think he might be an early reader. I am not going to push him. But I found out my DH started reading some really basic stuff at around 3 1/2 so we shall see.
Btw, I am positively thrilled to hear how well Sharon's pregnancy is going. It always does my heart some good to see my preemie parent friends having a good pregnancy.
Hugs to you all!
Wow great news all around!
Come on Phils world champs and full term baby and Hallie continued awesomeness!
I'm crossing my fingers!! 23 weeks + so far... yeah!!
Abby,
Congratulations to you and Sharon for the great pregnancy milestone, and way to go Hallie with reading. How cool is that?
I never got around to thanking you for your comment on my post about Fletcher's reaffirmation ceremony. I think a ceremony for Hallie in Olivia's grove would be absolutely beautiful.
Take care,
Erin
